Describe Implementation of Research Outcomes (or why not implemented):
Impacts/Benefits of Implementation (actual, not anticipated):The techniques that have been developed for multi-modal traffic optimization provide new opportunities for effectively exploiting real-time adaptive traffic signal control into urban settings. Through experimental analysis carried out in both microscopic simulation and in actual operation in the East Liberty pilot system, results indicate potential for significant performance benefit. During the next period we will attempt to lessen the current constraint that pedestrians must push the pedestrian button to trigger pedestrian friendly behavior.
